SEG Seniors’ Championship

SEG Seniors’ Championship

The 2018 SEG Seniors’ Championship (The Alan Hobson Trophy) was held at South Beds Golf Club on 25th & 26th July. Once again competitors assembled for a championship that was to be played on a parched course and once again, greenkeepers presented a course in excellent condition despite the best efforts of the weather.

On the first day only two players managed to score under par – Les Bruckner (Hindhead) and David Cromie (Denham) both scoring creditable 68s. Despite an excellent challenge from Tyrone Carter (Stevenage) with a 69 on the second day, Les Bruckner secured the overall win with his 74 for a Level Par total of 142. Congratulations Les. Tyrone finished one stroke behind in second and Ian Attoe (Worplesdon)with 145 was third.

Idris Vernall (Brokenhurst Manor) and Alan Scovell (Woodbridge) won the handicap prizes and the age group winners were:

55 to 59 – George Best Wilson (Calcot Park)

60 to 64 – Richard Partridge (Wildernesse)

65 to 69 – Neil Franklin (Beaconsfield)

70+ Gaius Potton (Berkhamsted)
