SEG Junior Championship 2022

SEG Junior Championship 2022

The SEG Junior Championship was played at Wokefield Park GC on 30th May 2022.

On a chilly but fine May morning Jack Swift (North Foreland) was the clubhouse leader after the first round with a 68. He was two strokes clear of Brahma Patel (Addington Palace) and Drew Sykes (Golf at Goodwood). Charlie Croker (Thorndon Park) was one stroke further back with a 71.

The weather began to deteriorate during the afternoon and rain with rumbles of thunder set in. At 3.45pm the klaxons were sounded to get the players off the course. After a suspension of about 45 minutes it was decided that as the storm seemed to have stalled near to the golf course it would not be possible to finish the afternoon rounds. The competition was therefore decided over the 18 holes that had already been completed by all competitors.

It is always a shame when a competition is impacted in this way by the weather but safety of players, spectators and officials is always the first priority.

On behalf of the competitors and the SEG Officials we would like to thank everyone at Wokefield Park who helped to ensure that our event went as smoothly as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
