Kent Wins SEG Mens’ County Qualifier 2019

The SEG Qualifier for the 2019 EG Men’s County Final was held at Ashford (Kent) Golf Club on 13th July.

The course was presented superbly for the 36 hole strokeplay event in which the scores, morning and afternoon, from all six members of each team counted for the overall team score.

There were some excellent scores in the morning and afternoon rounds with 25 players finishing level par or better over the 36 holes. Jack Hawksby (Bedfordshire) had the best individual score of the day finishing 9 under par to win the Peter Benka Trophy. The full individual results can be found here.

In the team event, despite being pushed by Surrey, Kent won the day with a score of 7 under par. They will now go on to play in the final against the winning teams from the other three EG regions. The full results of the Team competition can be found here.Ten days earlier Kent won the junior equivalent event so double congratulations are in order. Well done.

The winning players and their manager are pictured below with the SEG President and the Captain of Ashford GC.
