Hertfordshire wins U18 League

Hertfordshire wins U18 League

Eight players from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Kent met in the Final of the U18 League at Ipswich Golf Club on 23rd September 2018.

With the forecast having predicted thunder storms for Sunday afternoon, the tee times were brought forward to 09.00 on Sunday morning. Whilst the decision was the right one at the time that it was made, unfortunately it turned out to be rather unfortunate. The players were subjected to cold and rain all morning whilst much of the afternoon was warm and sunny. Despite the weather there was some marvelous golf on display from the three teams who had won their respective league groups. Hertfordshire and Kent both secured victories against Bedfordshire and the final was decided in the last two matches between those two counties. Hertfordshire running out as winners with a 5-3 victory over Kent to take the title.

The players in the Hertfordshire Team (pictured below) were: Greg Hurley, Max Hopkins, Jack Bigham, Abishek Pankhania, Matthew Gauntlett, Reis Suart, George Durkan and George Wright.

The Hertfordshire Captain (Greg Hurley) is pictured below receiving the trophy from Kevin Lovelock (Director of Golf at Ipswich Golf Club) and Mike Rees (President of England Golf South East Group).
