Essex wins 2019 Colts League

Essex wins 2019 Colts League

Teams from Essex and Hampshire assembled at Weybrook Park GC on Satrurday 12th October 2019 in preparation for the Final of the SEG Colts League the following day. The weather on Saturday was unpleasant. In fact, the heavy rain curtailed the Hampshire practice round that afternoon.

On Sunday, the decision was taken to play the singles in the morning because the forecast for the afternoon was not good. The forecast was correct and there was a deluge late in the morning but this didn’t require a suspension of play and the afternoon was blessed with better conditions.

Essex took a commanding lead in the morning winning the session 6-2 with some fine performances. Their dominance continued into the afternoon and they won the match with an overall score of 9-3..

Our thanks go to the staff and members of Weybrook Park Golf Club for having hosted this final and, in particular to the greens staff for having ensured that we were able to complete the two rounds in such difficult weather conditions.

All the finalists are pictured below. Full results can be found here.
